MLB: Washington 6, Pittsburgh 5

WASHINGTON, June 6 (UPI) -- Christian Guzman scored the winning run on a bases-loaded wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth Wednesday, allowing Washington to edge Pittsburgh 6-5.

Brian Schneider had a two-run single and scored a run, while three other Nationals drove in runs. Dmitri Young had a run and three hits, while Guzman and Nook Logan also had two hits for the Nationals, who broke a three-game losing streak.

The winner was Chad Cordero (1-0).

Pittsburgh's Adam LaRoche hit a three-run homer to tie the score at 5-5 in the eighth.

Ryan Duomit had two hits and one RBI, and Jason Bay added a sacrifice fly for the Pirates, who had only five hits in the third loss in their last four games.

Torres fell to 0-3 after giving up the winning run.

Washington's Ryan Zimmerman reached on a check swing grounder before Torres uncorked his wild pitch.
