MLB: Kansas City 4, Oakland 3

OAKLAND, Calif., May 17 (UPI) -- Ryan Shealy drove in the go-ahead run with a ninth-inning single Wednesday night as Kansas City rallied past Oakland, 4-3.

The Royals trailed by a run going into the ninth, but after Esteban German drew a walk off Kiko Calero (0-3), John Buck delivered a double to tie the game.

Paul Phillips came on to run for Buck and raced in to score on Shealy's single. Shealy came off the disabled list Wednesday night, having been out of action all month with a strained hamstring.

Jimmy Gobble (3-1) picked up the victory despite giving up a home run to Jack Cust in the eighth inning that briefly put Oakland in front.
