MLB: Detroit 4, Minnesota 3

DETROIT, April 29 (UPI) -- Brandon Inge hit a game-winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday as Detroit edged the Minnesota Twins 4-3.

Detroit got all its runs on homers, with Magglio Ordonez hitting a two-run shot and Marcus Thames rapping a solo homer.

Inge had three hits, and Ordonez and Craig Monroe had two hits each for the Tigers, who had lost the previous two games in the weekend series.

The winner was closer Todd Jones (1-1).

Torii Hunter hit a solo homer and Jason Kubel hit a two-run double to account for Minnesota's runs. Hunter, Nick Punto, Jason Bartlett and Mike Redmond each had two hits for the Twins, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Losing pitcher Jesse Crain (1-2) surrendered the game-winning homer.

Detroit starter Mike Maroth gave up three runs -- two earned -- in 6 2/3 innings.

His Minnesota counterpart, Johan Santana, yielded three earned runs in six innings.
