NEW YORK, April 26 (UPI) -- A.J. Burnett and two relievers hurled a four-hit shutout Thursday night as the Toronto Blue Jays topped the New York Yankees, 6-0.
Frank Thomas hit an RBI single and a sacrifice fly; Alex Rios also hit a sacrifice fly; Lyle Overbay hit an RBI single; a run scored on a wild pitch; and Vernon Wells had three hits -- one an RBI double -- for the Blue Jays, who have won three in a row.
Burnett (2-1) walked four batters and struck out five.
Jeremy Accardo and Scott Downs each pitched one scoreless inning.
Jason Giambi had two of the four hits for the Yankees, who have a six-game losing streak.
The loser was prized right-hander Phil Hughes, who made his first major league start.
In 4 1/3 innings, Hughes gave up four earned runs and seven hits, with one walk and five strikeouts.
