MLB: Milwaukee 7, Pittsburgh 3

MILWAUKEE, April 19 (UPI) -- Bill Hall hit a two-run homer, drove in three runs, and scored twice Wednesday night as Milwaukee beat Pittsburgh, 7-3.

Kevin Mench had three hits, two runs, and one RBI; Corey Hart went 3-for-4 with a run scored; while Tony Gwynn and Tony Graffanino also knocked in one run each for the Brewers, who have won three of five.

Winner Claudio Vargas (1-0) scattered two runs -- one earned -- and five hits over six innings with two walks and 11 strikeouts.

Jason Bay went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored; and Chris Duffy went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI for the Pirates, who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Losing pitcher Paul Maholm (0-2) allowed five earned runs and 10 hits in six innings with no walks and three strikeouts.
