NHL: Phoenix 3, Los Angeles 2

GLENDALE, Ariz., April 6 (UPI) -- Jeremy Roenick had a goal and an assist Thursday night as Phoenix beat Los Angeles, 3-2.

He scored on the power play at 9:17 of the first period to give Phoenix a 1-0 lead.

Bill Thomas made it 2-0 at 17:48 of the first.

Tom Kostopoulos drew Los Angeles within 2-1 at 17:23 of the second.

Shane Doan scored his 27th goal of the season at 18:38 of the second on Roenick's assist, giving Phoenix a 3-1 lead.

Michael Cammalleri scored a power play goal at 8:38 of the third period to cap the scoring.

Curtis Joseph made 19 saves on 21 shots for the Coyotes, who broke a five-game losing streak.

Phoenix is last in the Western Conference standings, one point behind the Kings.

Sean Burke gave up three goals on 38 shots for the Kings, who have lost six in a row and 14 of their last 16 games overall.

Each team will miss the playoffs.
