UNIONDALE, N.Y., April 3 (UPI) -- Miroslav Satan scored the only goal in the shootout Tuesday night, giving the New York Islanders a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers.
The victory kept the Islanders' slim playoff hopes alive. They trail Montreal by four points in the battle for the last post-season berth in the Eastern Conference.

Wade Dubielewicz stopped 36 of 38 shots for the Islanders and then was perfect in the shootout.
The Rangers missed a chance to clinch a playoff spot. They have 92 points and are tied with Tampa Bay for the sixth position in the East.
