NHL: St. Louis 5, Edmonton 2

ST. LOUIS, March 29 (UPI) -- Doug Weight had a goal and an assist Thursday night to help the St. Louis Blues skate past the Edmonton Oilers, 5-2.

The contest was tied, 2-2, after the first period when Lee Stempniak and Jay McClement scored in the second to give St. Louis a 4-2 lead.

Peter Sejna scored once, Petr Cajanek scored an empty-netter with 30 seconds left, Barret Jackman had three assists, and Jason Bacashihua made 16 saves on 18 shots for the Blues, who will miss the playoffs for the second straight year and have split their last four games.

Ales Hemsky and Mathieu Roy scored, Shawn Horcoff had two assists, and Jussi Markkanen gave up four goals on 41 shots for the Oilers, who have lost three in a row and 15 of their last 16 games.
