NHL: Philadelphia 3, Atlanta 2

PHILADELPHIA, March 16 (UPI) -- Stefan Ruzicka scored the game-winning goal Thursday night as Philadelphia beat the Atlanta Thrashers, 3-2.

The goal came at 8:52 of the second period and put Philadelphia ahead for good, 2-1.

Geoff Sanderson would score his 11th goal of the season at 4:48 of the third period; Derian Hatcher scored a goal to end a 125-game goal-less drought; Sanderson also had one assist; while Martin Biron stopped 37 of 39 shots for the Flyers, who had lost three of their previous four games.

Keith Tkachuk had a goal and an assist; Eric Belanger scored the other goal; and Kari Lehtonen made 33 saves on 36 shots for Atlanta, which has lost two of three.

The Flyers, saddled with the worst record in the NHL, completed a four-game sweep of the Southeast division-leading Thrashers and have won six straight overall in the series.
