Rangers' Lundvist tops NHL weekly honorees

NEW YORK, March 12 (UPI) -- New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was selected the top of three NHL players of the week, the league said Monday.

He was joined by Chicago Blackhawks left wing Jeff Hamilton and San Jose goaltender Evgeni Nabokov as the players honored for last week's play by the National Hockey League.

1 during the week and had a 1.43 goals against average in helping the Rangers move into the eighth playoff spot in the NHL's Eastern Conference. He won three 2-1 games and was in the net for the Rangers 3-2 overtime loss at Pittsburgh. He is 8-2-4 in his last 14 games.

Hamilton led the NHL with seven points for the week. His three goals came on his second career hat trick when the Blackhawks posted a 7-5 victory over Phoenix. He also had two assists in the game for a career-high five points.

Nabokov posted a goal against average of 0.66 while going 2


1 last week. He notched his sixth shutout of the season against Minnesota last Tuesday and turned in his seventh by beating Edmonton on Sunday.
