NBA suspends Rasheed Wallace

NEW YORK, March 10 (UPI) -- Detroit forward Rasheed Wallace Saturday was suspended for his 16th technical foul of the season.

Stu Jackson, the league's executive vice president for basketball operations, noted that a player or coach receives an automatic one-game suspension after reaching that level.

The latest technical against the volatile nine-year veteran occurred with 4:56 remaining in the second period of Friday night's 95-82 win over the Denver Nuggets when he was upset about being called for a foul by official Bob Delane against Denver's Linas Kleiza during a rebound.

It becomes effective Sunday afternoon when the Pistons meet the Clippers in Los Angeles.

"I said what I say all the time with the, 'Ball don't lie," Wallace told the Detroit News after the game. "Bob thought when I said that I was directing it toward one of his partners out there on the officiating crew, which was not true."

Every other technical foul this season will result in another one-game suspension.
