Mike McMahon signs with Toronto Argonauts

TORONTO, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Mike McMahon, who most recently played with the Philadelphia Eagles, has signed a contract with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

McMahon picked the Argonauts over the Cleveland Browns, the Toronto Globe and Mail reported. He could be the team's starting quarterback next season.

As a fill-in for the Eagles' Donovan McNabb in the 2005, McMahon completed 94-of-207 passes for 1,158 yards and five touchdowns.

He was signed and then released by the Minnesota Vikings.

Earlier, McMahon spent four years with the Detroit Lions.
