Watson finally wins in Florida

LUTZ, Fla., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Tom Watson bagged the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am at Lutz, Fla., Sunday for his first-ever title in the state.

He trailed co-leaders Wayne Levi and Andy Bean by two shots in the final round, but went on to card a 1-underr 70 -- closing with pars on the final five holes -- and improved his career record in the state to 1-92.

Watson finished at 4-under 209 to collect a first-place check for $240,000.

"It was a difficult day," he said. "I started off and I really played a lot of good, quality shots, but didn't make any putts at all. I bogeyed eight and nine and said to myself 'this is not the way it's supposed to be. I was supposed to make a couple of those putts'".

Levi and Bean had to complete their second round early Sunday morning after play was suspended by darkness on Saturday.

Bean (72) shared second place with Jay Haas (69) at 3-under 210.
