COL BKB: Pittsburgh 65, Washington 61

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Mike Cook scored 15 points and Levance Fields scored 14 Saturday afternoon, as the fifth-ranked Pittsburgh Panthers beat Washington, 65-61.

Ronald Ramon had 11 points, Sam Young had 10 and Aaron Gray had 10 rebounds for Pittsburgh (23-4), which beat the Huskies for the first time since 1950.

Jon Brockman led Washington with 13 points while freshman Spencer Hawes had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Ryan Appleby had 11 points for the Huskies (16-10).

After a Hawes lay-up cut the Pitt lead to 62-59, Fields missed a jumper with 47 seconds remaining. But Appleby missed a three-pointer on the other end, and the Panthers held on to win.
