NHL: Toronto 2, N.Y. Rangers 1

NEW YORK, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Goaltender Andrew Raycroft stopped 37 of 38 shots Wednesday night as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the New York Rangers, 2-1.

Mats Sundin scored the game-winning goal at 6:32 of the third period to break a 1-1 tie, and Alexei Ponikarovsky scored on the power play at 13:34 of the second for the Maple Leafs, who won their third straight game and their fourth out of five.

Brendan Shanahan scored the only Rangers' goal on the power play in the second period, and Henrik Lundqvist made 26 saves for the Rangers, who had won their previous two games.

New York's Jaromir Jagr recorded his 43rd assist of the season.

Both teams had one power-play goal.
