NHL: Buffalo 3, Boston 1

BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Chris Drury scored twice in the second period Thursday night to help the Buffalo Sabres beat the Boston Bruins, 3-1.

Drury, the Sabres' top goal-scorer, increased his goal total to 29 for the season.

Jason Pominville also scored a goal, all-star game MVP Daniel Briere had two assists, and Martin Biron allowed one goal on 34 shots for the Sabres, who have split their last four games.

It was their second straight win against Boston this week. They won Tuesday night's contest in a 7-1 rout.

Marco Strum scored Boston's only goal in the first period after assists by Glen Murray and Marc Savard. Goalie Tim Thomas made 25 saves on 28 shots for the Bruins, who have a season-high five-game losing streak.

Drury scored the game's lone power-play goal.
