NHL: Buffalo 7, Boston 1

BUFFALO, N.Y., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Daniel Briere had a hat trick and Maxim Afinogenov had three assists Tuesday as the Buffalo Sabres posted a 7-1 win over the Boston Bruins.

Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville each had a goal and an assist for Buffalo. Paul Gaustad and Chris Drury also scored for the Sabres, who ended a three-game losing streak.

Martin Biron stopped 25 shots for his 10th win of the season.

Glen Murray scored for the Bruins, who have lost four straight and eight of their last 10 games. Hannu Toivonen allowed six goals on 23 shots before leaving after two periods.
