NHL: Tampa Bay 3, Buffalo 2

BUFFALO, N.Y., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Brad Richards scored the game-winning goal in the final period Saturday to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

Vincent Lecavalier scored a goal to extend his point streak to six games, while Martin St. Louis had an assist to get at least a point in 10 straight games for Tampa Bay, which has won four straight.

The last time the Lightning won four consecutive games was last season. They also defeated Buffalo for the first time in their last seven meetings.

Marc Denis turned aside 32 shots in the victory for Tampa Bay.

Jason Pominville and Ales Kotalik scored for the Sabres, who have lost four of their last six games.

Ryan Miller allowed three goals on 23 shots in the loss.
