Gramatica for Vanderjagt as Cowboys kicker

IRVING, Texas, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Kicker Mike Vanderjagt was released by the Dallas Cowboys on Monday and replaced by Martin Gramatica.

Vanderjagt, who signed with the Cowboys this past off season, missed the first two games of the season while nursing a groin injury and upon his return has hit just 13-of-18 field goals.

Vanderjagt spent the first eight years of his career in Indianapolis. He was nearly perfect last season for the Colts, connecting on each of his 52 PATs and 23-of-25 field goals.

Entering the season, his career 87.5 percent field goal success rate is the best-ever in the league. He holds the NFL record for consecutive field goals made at 42 in a row.

Gramatica, in his seventh NFL season, has hit 138-of-180 field goal tries and all but two of his 192 PATs.
