VALPARAISO, Ind., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Dominic James hit two three-pointers in the last minute, one with three seconds left, to give the No. 17 Marquette Golden Eagles a 65-62 win over Valparaiso.
James hit the first with 37 seconds left to put Marquette up 62-59. Jarryd Loyd answered for the Crusaders with a game-tying three with 21 seconds remaining.
Valparaiso had one final shot, a desperation heave by Brandon McPherson that bounced off the rim.
The game-winning shot capped a 22-point effort by James. Marquette (7-0) also received double-digit contributions from Wesley Matthews, who scored 11, and Ousmane Barro and Jerel McNeal, who scored 10 each. Barro also had 13 rebounds.
Shawn Huff led Valparaiso (3-2) with 22 points, including four-of-seven three-pointers.
