NHL: Columbus 5, Minnesota 3

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Sergei Fedorov had two goals and two assists Saturday night as Columbus beat the Minnesota Wild, 5-3.

It was Columbus' first win for Ken Hitchcock, who was named the Blue Jackets' new coach last Wednesday.

Anson Carter and Fredrik Modin both scored in the first period to give Columbus a 2-1 lead at the first intermission.

Carter also had two assists.

Fedorov scored twice in a three-goal third period and Fredrik Norrena gave up three goals on 22 shots as the Blue Jackets broke an eight-game losing streak.

Pascal Dupuis, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Stephane Veilleux all scored once, while goaltenders Niklas Backstrom and Manny Fernandez combined to allow five goals on 33 shots for the Wild, who have lost four of their last five games.

On the power play, both teams went 1-for-5.
