LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Corey Maggette scored 23 points off the bench Saturday night, 16 in the second quarter, as the Los Angeles Clippers beat Phoenix, 114-108.
Maggette also pulled down 12 rebounds. Sam Cassell scored 23 points, Cuttino Mobley scored 18 and Elton Brand scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Clippers, who won their second straight.
Steve Nash had 28 points and 13 assists, Shawn Marion had 25 points and 15 rebounds, and Kurt Thomas had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Suns, who have lost two straight.
The Suns pulled to within five heading into the final minute, but Brand blocked Thomas' lay-up attempt and Cassell put the game out of reach when he sank two free throws with 38.9 seconds left.
The Clippers shot 31-for-45 from the free-throw line, while Phoenix shot 17-for-21.
