COL FB: Louisville 44, West Va. 34

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Fifth-ranked Louisville scored 28 points in the second half Thursday night and rallied to beat No. 3 West Virginia, 44-34.

The Cardinals held a slim 16-14 edge at the half after an early 7-3 deficit.

Brian Brohm passed for a touchdown on 19-of-26 completions for 353 yards. Anthony Allen scored twice and picked up 47 yards on 12 carries.

Kolby Smith gained 72 yards on 13 carries, Harry Douglas caught six passes for 116 yards and Mario Urrutia added six receptions for one touchdown and 113 yards for Louisville. Trent Guy returned a punt 40 yards for a touchdown, Malik Jackson recovered fumble and returned it for a touchdown and Arthur Carmody kicked three field goals for the Cardinals (8-0, 3-0 Big East).

Patrick White ran for 125 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries, and Steve Slaton gained 156 yards on 22 carries for the Mountaineers (7-1, 2-1), who lost two critical fumbles.
