LYON, France, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Third-seeded Dominik Hrbaty of Slovakia was among Wednesday's losers at the Lyon Tennis Grand Prix tennis tournament in Lyon, France.
In a second-round match, Hrbaty was beaten by native Frenchman and unseeded Marc Gicquel, 6-3, 6-3.
No. 5 seed Robin Soderling of Sweden, who won this tournament in 2004, beat unseeded Nicolas Massu of Chile, 7-5, 6-3. Unseeded Florian Mayer of Germany topped No. 8 seed Nicolas Almagro of Spain, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
American Robby Ginepri beat Gilles Simon of France, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-5). And wild card Michael Llodra of France rallied to beat fellow doubles specialist Michal Mertinak, a qualifier from Slovakia, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.
The 2006 Lyon winner will pocket a first-prize check of $120,000.
