SEOUL, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Eleni Daniilidou was Sunday's winner in the title match of the Korea Open in Seoul, South Korea.
The native of Greece, who was unseeded, beat No. 4 Ai Sugiyama of Japan, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3) to win her fourth-career title.
"It was a tough match," said Daniilidou, also knocked off third-seeded Marion Bartoli of France, 6-1, 6-0, on Saturday to reach the final. "Neither of us played our best (and) at the end, I was cramping."
Daniilidou saved three match points while trailing, 5-4, in the third set.
She is the fifth player this season to come back from the brink of defeat en route to a title.
Sugiyama came into the match with a 4-2 lead in the series against Daniilidou. The two last met at this year's French Open, with Sugiyama rallying for a three-set triumph.
Daniilidou earned $22,900 for her victory.
