MLB: Baltimore 7, Minnesota 3

BALTIMORE, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Brian Roberts had three runs, three hits and three RBI Friday night as Baltimore beat the Minnesota Twins, 7-3.

He hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second and an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth.

Nick Markakis hit two RBI doubles, Melvin Mora hit an RBI single, Miguel Tejada had three hits, and Jeff Fiorentino scored twice for the Orioles (68-86), who have won five times in their last six games.

In 6 2/3 innings, winner Daniel Cabrera (8-10) gave up three runs and five hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Luis Castillo, Jason Bartlett and Rondell White all had one RBI; and Castillo had two hits for the Twins (90-63), who have split their last four games.

Loser Carlos Silva (10-14) yielded five runs and 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

The Twins fell to 1 1/2 games behind first-place Detroit in the AL Central, pending the outcome of the Tigers Friday night game at Kansas City.
