HOUSTON, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Selvin Young rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown and Colt McCoy threw two TD passes Saturday as the eighth-ranked Texas Longhorns stampeded Rice, 52-7.
Texas (2-1) rebounded from last week's 24-7 defeat at the hands of top-ranked Ohio State, which dropped the Longhorns six spots in the national rankings.
McCoy was 8-of-10 passing for 126 yards while Jamaal Charles added 99 yards on the ground with a touchdown as the Longhorns won for the 22nd time in their last 23 games.
Joel Armstrong paced Rice with 180 yards passing on 18-of-31 and a touchdown. He was also sacked four times.
Jarrett Dillard was Armstrong's favorite target, catching nine passes for 91 yards and one touchdown.
Rice (0-3) has lost 19 of its last 20 games. Against Texas, the Owl offense managed just 164 yards total offense, including a negative 16 yards rushing.
