NFL: Atlanta 20, Carolina 6

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Michael Vick threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns Sunday afternoon as Atlanta beat the Carolina Panthers, 20-6.

Vick was 10-of-22 passing and also rushed for 49 yards on six attempts. Warrick Dunn ran for 132 yards on 29 carries, Jerious Norwood added 66 yards on 10 carries, Michael Jenkins made three receptions and one touchdown for 77 yards, and Alge Crumpler caught a one-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter for the Falcons (1-0), who had 252 yards on the ground and made six sacks.

Jake Delhomme was 21-of-39 for 186 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. DeShaun Foster ran for 54 yards on 15 carries, Drew Carter caught five passes for 62 yards, and John Kasay kicked two field goals for the Panthers (0-1), who were without all-pro wide receiver Steve Smith.

He was inactive for the contest because of an ongoing right hamstring problem.
