Harvick wins Nextel Cup 400 in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Kevin Harvick won the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 Nextel Cup race at Richmond (Va.) International Saturday, finishing 0.154 seconds ahead of runner-up Kyle Busch.

The victory was Harvick's third of the season and eighth of his Cup career.

Defending Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart finished the regular season in 11th place and out of contention for the cup.

The Chevy Rock & Roll 400 was the final race of NASCAR's regular season. Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Harvick, Busch, Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne qualified for the "Chase for the Nextel Cup."

The first race of the 10-race "playoffs" will be Sunday, Sept. 17, at the New Hampshire International Speedway.
