MLB: Seattle 6, LA Angels 4

SEATTLE, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- The Mariners downed the Angels, 6-4, Tuesday, leaving Los Angeles 7 1/2 games behind first-place Oakland in the AL West.

Seattle's Chris Snelling smacked a couple of solo home runs and Jarrod Washburn pitched seven solid innings.

Raul Ibanez and Ichiro Suzuki also homered for Seattle, which has won six consecutive games.

Washburn allowed three runs on six hits with four strikeouts.

Seattle reliever Rafael Soriano was struck behind the right ear with a line drive in the eighth and was carted off the field. He will remain in a Seattle hospital for tests.

The Angels' Garret Anderson and Robb Quinlan homered, and Vladimir Guerrero had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Jered Weaver suffered the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits through 4 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked two.
