MLB: Chicago WSox 12, Tampa Bay 9

CHICAGO, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Jermaine Dye drove in four runs Tuesday while leading the Chicago White Sox to a 12-9 win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Joe Crede went 4-for-5 with two RBI and A.J. Pierzynski knocked in a run and scored two for the White Sox, who now own a half-game lead over Minnesota in the AL wild card race.

Freddy Garcia (13-8) got the win after allowing five runs on seven hits in seven innings.

Casey Fossum (6-6) was the loser as he allowed seven runs on three hits in just 1 2/3 innings. Jorge Cantu hit a two-run homer for the Devil Rays, who have dropped five straight.
