MLB: Kansas City 5, Oakland 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Mike Sweeney's two-run double keyed a four-run eighth inning as the Kansas City Royals beat Oakland, 5-3, Friday night to sweep a doubleheader.

Mark Teahen had three hits and scored twice for the Royals, who won the opener, 7-1.

Kansas City starter Jorge De La Rosa went five innings and allowed just one run on two hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Ambiorix Burgos (3-5) earned the win with three solid innings of middle relief.

Frank Thomas had a two-run homer for the Athletics, who scratched out just three hits as they lost for just the third time in 15 games.
