MLB: Colorado 10, Chi. Cubs 2

DENVER, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Garrett Atkins hit a three-run homer as the Colorado Rockies pounded the Chicago Cubs, 10-2, Friday night.

Ryan Spilborghs had three hits, three RBI and one run scored; and Jason Smith had a solo home run for the Rockies, who have won two of their last three.

Colorado starter Aaron Cook (8-10) picked up the win, giving up two runs on 10 hits with a walk and a strikeout over eight innings.

Jacque Jones hit a solo home run and John Mabry had two hits and one RBI for the Cubs, who have lost three straight.

Rich Hill (2-5) took the loss, yielding six runs on six hits with five walks and two strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
