MLB: Kansas City 5, Boston 4

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 10 (UPI) -- An infield RBI single by Ryan Shealy in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday night gave Kansas City a 5-4 win over Boston to complete a three-game sweep.

Emil Brown had three runs and two hits, including a solo homer; Reggie Sanders had three hits and two RBI; and David DeJesus had two hits for the Royals (41-73), who have four wins in their last 10 games.

The winner was reliever Andrew Sisco (1-2), who hurled a scoreless eighth inning. Closer Ambiorix Burgos recorded his 18th save.

With two hits, Manny Ramirez extended his hitting streak to a career-best hitting streak to 25 games; Wily Mo Pena hit a three-run homer; and Doug Mirabelli hit a solo homer for the Red Sox (65-48), who have dropped their last five games.

Loser Curt Schilling (14-5) gave up five runs and 11 hits in 7 1/3 innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.
