MLB: N.Y. Mets 7, San Diego 3

NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Jose Reyes had two runs, two hits and two RBI Thursday afternoon as the New York Mets beat San Diego, 7-3, finishing a three-game sweep.

David Wright hit a tie-breaking RBI double in a four-run seventh inning rally; Jose Valentin hit an RBI single and drove in two; while Endy Chavez hit a sacrifice fly for the Mets (69-44), who have won seven times in their last 10 games and have a 14-game lead over Philadelphia in the National League East.

In seven innings, winner Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez gave up only three runs and four hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Adrian Gonzalez hit a two-run homer, and Josh Bard had two hits and an RBI for the Padres (58-56), who have dropped seven of their last 10 games.

The losing pitcher was reliever Doug Brocail (2-1).
