MLB: N.Y. Yankees 6, Baltimore 1

BALTIMORE, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Johnny Damon, Jason Giambi, Derek Jeter and Melky Cabrera hit solo homes runs Sunday afternoon as the New York Yankees beat Baltimore, 6-1.

Damon -- who had a leadoff homer -- finished with two hits and two runs.

Giambi added an RBI double, and Bobby Abreu hit a run-scoring single for the Yankees (66-42), who have won six of their last seven games.

Winner Jaret Wright (8-6) gave up one run and five hits over six innings with four walks and three strikeouts. Mariano Rivera earned his 28th save.

Nick Markakis hit an RBI single for the only run, and Jeff Conine had three of the six hits for the Orioles (50-62), who have lost three of their last four games.

Losing pitcher Rodrigo Lopez (8-12) surrendered five runs and nine hits, including all of the homers.
