SEATTLE, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Marco Scutaro had three hits, including a home run and a double, and two RBI, as the Oakland Athletics beat Seattle, 5-2, Friday night.

Jay Payton doubled and scored a run and Oakland starter Barry Zito (12-7) gave up one run on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts over seven innings, as the Athletics beat the Mariners for a 10th straight time.

Richie Sexson homered and Raul Ibanez drove in a run for the Mariners, who have lost two of their last three games.

Seattle starter Jarrod Washburn (5-11) took the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits with three walks and a strikeout over seven innings.
