The fourth-seeded Coria, 2003 winner, was leading Polish wild card Michal Przysiezny 6-5 in the first set when the 2004 French Open runner-up quit with a sore right shoulder. The injury has hampered him since last season.

Also Monday, Czech Lukas Dlouhy upset sixth-seeded Spaniard Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo 6-4, 6-2.

A match between second-seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo, the 2001 champion, and unseeded Czech Ivo Minwas suspended until Tuesday, with Robredo leading 7-6 (7-5), 0-1
