MLB: Pittsburgh 4, San Francisco 3

PITTSBURGH, July 29 (UPI) -- A solo home run by Jeromy Burnitz in the bottom of the fifth inning was the eventual game-winning run Saturday night as Pittsburgh edged San Francisco, 4-3.

Burnitz had two runs and two hits, Ronny Paulino and Jose Castillo both had two hits and one RBI, and Jose Bautista had two hits for the Pirates (39-66), who have won four games in a row.

Winner Tom Gorzelanny (1-2), who hit an RBI groundout, scattered two runs and six hits over seven innings with one walk and five strikeouts.

Mike Gonzalez recorded his 18th save.

Barry Bonds hit an RBI double; both Omar Vizquel and Eliezer Alfonzo hit RBI singles; Ray Durham had a run and two hits; and Moises Alou had two hits for the Giants (51-53), whose losing streak grew to six straight games.

Losing pitcher Jamey Wright (6-9) surrendered four runs and seven hits in six innings.
