MLB: L.A. Angels 8, Boston 3

BOSTON, July 29 (UPI) -- Maicer Izturis hit a go-ahead RBI double in a six-run seventh inning Friday night as the Los Angeles Angels beat Boston, 8-3.

Howie Kendrick had one run, three hits, and three RBI; while Tim Salmon, Robb Quinlan, and Juan Rivera hit RBI singles for the Angels (53-49), have won five of their last six games.

In six innings, winner Kelvim Escobar (7-9) scattered two runs and six hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Alex Gonzalez and Manny Ramirez each hit RBI doubles; and a run scored on a throwing error by Angels' reliever Brendan Donnelly for the Red Sox (61-40), who had a four-game home winning streak snapped.

Losing pitcher Jon Lester (5-1), who suffered his first major league loss, gave up five runs and 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings with no walks and two strikeouts.
