ST LOUIS, Mo., July 13 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols hit his 30th home run of the year in the bottom of the 14th inning, as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Dodgers, 3-2, Thursday night.
Pujols launched a 3-1 pitch from Dodger pitcher Odalis Perez over the left field wall at Busch Stadium, handing the Cards their fourth straight win and third-straight extra-innings victory.

Brandon Looper worked the 14th inning to improve to 5-1 while Perez fell to 4-4 with the loss.
The Dodgers took the lead on Nomar Garciaparra's two-run homer in the third inning, which extended his hitting streak to 22 games. Jim Edmonds tied the game with a two-run shot off Giovanni Carrara in the seventh, and Pujols' blast gave the Dodgers their second loss in three games.
