DETROIT, June 24 (UPI) -- Placido Polanco hit an RBI double in the bottom of the 10th inning Saturday night as Detroit rallied to beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-6.
Vance Wilson and Marcus Thames hit home runs; Curtis Granderson had three runs, four hits and one RBI; and Magglio Ordonez had three hits and one RBI for the Tigers (50-25), who have won eight of their last nine games.
They scored three runs in the last two innings.
In relief, the winning pitcher was Joel Zumaya (4-1).
Scott Rolen had one hit and two RBI; Albert Pujols had one run, one hit and one RBI; and David Eckstein and Scott Spiezio each had two runs and two hits for the Cardinals (42-31), who have lost their last five games.
The losing pitcher was reliever Tyler Johnson (0-1).
