MLB: Chi. White Sox 1, St. Louis 0

CHICAGO, June 22 (UPI) -- Jim Thome had Chicago's only hit -- a solo homer in the seventh -- as the White Sox beat St. Louis, 1-0, Thursday night.

Cardinals' starter Anthony Reyes (1-1) carried a no-hitter into the seventh but was tagged with the loss after Thome hit his 24th home run of the year for the White Sox, who swept the Cards in three games and have won seven straight.

White Sox starter Freddy Garcia (9-4) pitched shutout ball for eight innings, allowing just four hits and one walk, and striking out two. Bobby Jenks recorded his 21st save with a perfect ninth.

The loss spoiled the return to the St. Louis lineup of Albert Pujols, who strained a right oblique muscle on June 3 against the Chicago Cubs. He was hitless in four at-bats.

David Eckstein doubled and Scott Rolen had one hit for St. Louis, which has lost three straight following a four-game winning streak.
