MLB: Oakland 3, Colorado 2

DENVER, June 22 (UPI) -- Nick Swisher tied the game with a ninth-inning homer, then scored the go-ahead run in the 11th, as Oakland beat Colorado, 3-2, Wednesday night.

Swisher finished with two hits -- both homers -- and three runs scored, while Bobby Kielty had two hits and drove in the winning run for Oakland, which avoided a three-game sweep.

Kiko Calero (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings to earn the victory, yielding just one hit and striking out two. Oakland starter Barry Zito gave up two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and four walks over seven innings.

Jamey Carroll had three hits, and Choo Freeman had two hits and scored both Colorado runs, as the Rockies saw a two-game winning streak ended.

Ray King (1-3) gave up one run on two walks and no hits in 1/3 inning to take the loss for Colorado.

Rockies starter Aaron Cook held the A's to one run on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts over eight innings -- but Brian Fuentes blew the save when he served up Swisher's ninth-inning homer.
