MLB: Boston 8, Toronto 6

TORONTO, June 1 (UPI) -- David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez both hit home runs Wednesday night as the Boston Red Sox beat Toronto, 8-6.

Alex Gonzalez had one run and two hits; Mark Loretta hit a two-run homer; and Trot Nixon had one run, one hit and one RBI for the Red Sox (31-20), who broke a two-game skid and have won five times in their last seven games.

In relief, the winner was reliever Jermaine Van Buren (1-0). Closer Jonathan Papelbon recorded his 19th save and is 19-for-19 in save opportunities, a team record to begin a season.

Aaron Hill had two hits and two RBI; Shea Hillenbrand had two runs, two hits and drove in one run; while Alex Rios had two runs and three hits for the Blue Jays (29-23). Toronto has lost twice in its last six games.

Loser Ted Lilly (5-5) yielded five runs and five hits in four innings.
