MLB: Texas 4, Oakland 3

ARLINGTON, May 29 (UPI) -- Jason Botts hit a three-run homer in the first inning Sunday night to help Texas beat Oakland, 4-3.

The Rangers scored the game-winning run on an RBI single by Ian Kinsler in the bottom of the sixth.

Brad Wilkerson scored twice; and Hank Blalock had one run and one hit for the Rangers (26-24), who won three times in the four-game series.

Winner Vicente Padilla (4-3) gave up three runs and five hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out four. Akinori Otsuka registered his eighth save.

Eric Chavez had one run, one hit and drove in one run; both Bobby Crosby and Bobby Kielty had two hits; and Mark Kotsay had one run and one hit for the Athletics (23-27), who have lost eight of their last nine games.

Losing pitcher Kirk Saarloos (2-3) surrendered four runs and four hits in seven innings with seven walks and two strikeouts.
