MLB: N.Y. Yankees 8, Boston 6

BOSTON, May 24 (UPI) -- Melky Cabrera had two hits and four RBI Wednesday night as the New York Yankees beat Boston, 8-6.

Bernie Williams had two runs, three hits and one RBI; Terrence Long had two runs, two hits and one RBI; Robinson Cano had two runs and one hit; while Derek Jeter had one run and one hit for the Yankees (26-19), who have won three of their last five games.

Despite giving up five runs and nine hits in five innings, winner Randy Johnson improved to 6-4. Mariano Rivera registered his 10th save.

Manny Ramirez hit two home runs and knocked in three; Kevin Youkilis had two runs, three hits and two RBI; and Alex Gonzalez had one run and two hits for the Red Sox (26-18), who have lost three of their last four games.

Losing pitcher Matt Clement fell to 4-4 after yielding eight runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.
