FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 25 (UPI) -- Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has declined an offer to become the next commissioner of the National Football League.
"I'm going to be governor until Jan. 2 and I am not going to entertain any discussions about my future until I have finished with this job," Bush told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "I have a duty to serve. I have a lot of people who come with the best of intentions, who have all sorts of ideas about what I'm going to do in my future."
The NFL is looking for a successor to 65-year-old Paul Tagliabue, who has set a July 31 retirement date, but has said he would stay in place until a successor is named.
"I'm healthy, working hard, enjoying it and looking forward to doing other things at some point in my life," he told the newspaper earlier this week.
