MLB: NY Yankees 7, Boston 5

BOSTON, May 23 (UPI) -- Jaret Wright pitched five scoreless innings and Alex Rodriguez hit a three-run home run Tuesday to lead the Yankees to a 7-5 win over the Boston Red Sox.

Wright (2-3) gave up four hits and walked two for the Yankees, who won for just the second time in their last six games.

Johnny Damon also homered for New York.

Mariano Rivera pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to earn his ninth save.

Manny Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI for the Red Sox, who lost for just the second time in six games against the Yankees this season.

Tim Wakefield (3-6) allowed seven runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
