MLB: St. Louis 9, Kansas City 6

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 19 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols Friday belted his 20th homer of 2006 and the Cardinals rallied from a five-run deficit to beat Kansas City, 9-6.

Pujols went 2-for-5, scored two runs and drove in two with the homer. Juan Encarnacion also went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored; Scott Rolen also had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored; and Scott Spiezio had three hits and scored twice for the Cardinals, who won their third straight.

Chris Carpenter (4-2) rebounded from a tough start to pitch six innings, giving up six runs on nine hits with three walks and eight strikeouts. Adam Wainwright picked up his first save with 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.

Reggie Sanders hit his fifth homer and Doug Mientkiewicz had two hits for the Royals, who have lost seven straight.

Mark Redman (0-4) served up six runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout in four-plus innings.
